Below is a video of David Lynch recalling why he turned downed Return Of The Jedi when asked by George Lucas to direct it. Although he didn’t really give a reason, it is however David Lynch. He is allergic to coherent messages. He thrives on obtuse, indecipherable, but inexplicably cool messages.
