After having accused Nirvana and Kurt Kobain of ‘taking the fun out of rock and roll’, Brandon Flowers is once again opening up his yapper and claiming that Americans don’t care about new rock bands. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly The Killers frontman is spouting that:
We’ve been embraced in Britain in a way that I’ll never understand, and it’s such a wonderful thing,” he says. “But over here [in America], people are still so obsessed with Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, those sorts of bands, that nobody else is allowed [to grow].”
So, what exactly is he complaining about? He’s in a pretty successful band the way I see it. Does he think that they should be written about in “legendary” terms, such as Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, at this time in their career? He’s delusional. The Killers suck. I rather listen to a Hannah Montana album in its entirety than listen to the crap they try to pawn off to us as ‘rock’.

he’s right. bands in america suck because records companies don’t want to invest long term. they want the quick buck, rap, hiphop album… gone are the days of building relationships with your fans. killers don’t suck.
Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, those sort of bands? What kinds of bands would those be? Bands that are actually made up of incredible musicians? Bands that have released music that are some of the best ever? Bands that actually changed the face of music? Go gorge yourself on bangers and mash, suckers! Piss off!
As I said on a different web page this is another example of how the press tries to make Brandon Flowers seem like an asshole. Before you start getting mad look at what Flowers said and you’ll find that he does not insult Zeppelin or Nirvana, he just says people are obsessed with those bands so other bands aren’t allowed to grow. This is 100% correct. The only new music that gets any attention is poppy rap and r & b, while quality rock bands go unnoticed
